Temporary assisted living is available for an additional fee
Apartment residents who develop a need for more personal attention or permanent assisted living may transfer to the residential section or assisted living unit.
Health Care:
If you need temporary care (minor illness, recuperating from surgery or an accident), the Home's nursing staff, aides, and orderlies will tend to your every need in the Special Care unit.
Once you are a permanent resident, after passing a three-month evaluation period, you will be eligible for day-to-day assisted living in Special Care, should you need help.
Catered Care is also available. This is limited assistance given to a resident in his/her own room or apartment. Basic Catered Care is $15.00 per day.
You may see the physicians who visit the "Home" during their regular visits to the Home. You will be responsible for any Medicare deductibles and any medicine and supplies you receive.
Numerous physicians and specialists are available in Bedford, Roanoke and Lynchburg.
The charge for in-patient care in the Special Care unit is $65 per day, in addition to your monthly fee.
Bedford Memorial Hospital is near the Home for residents who need hospital care.
Hospitals are also located in Roanoke and Lynchburg (25 miles away).
The Home's Medical Records Department will help you with Medicare and other insurance claims for outside medical treatment.
The Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center is located 35 miles from Bedford.
