LODGES PLAN SPECIAL FUNDRAISERS
FOR THE HOME

Since the first of the year, several Lodges have planned special fundraisers for the Home or made substantial donations of $500 or more.

  • Members of the Bedford, VA, Lodge No. 2844 came up with the idea of including an appeal for the Home with their dues notices this year.  So far, this has resulted in donations totaling $2,385 from members of the Lodge.  And, according to the lodge secretary, there is more to come.

  • The Arlington-Fairfax, VA, Lodge No. 2188 held a special “sock hop” dance with the proceeds of almost $2000.00 donated to the Home.  Arlington-Fairfax has also made several other substantial donations to the Home in the past.

  • Martinsville, VA # 1752, made an appeal to their membership on behalf of the Home.  These donations are just beginning to come in.

Other Lodge donations of $500 or more in 2008 are:

·        Lake Havasu City, AZ No. 2399 - $1,500

·        Ocean City, MD, No. 2645 - $1,300

·        Newport News, VA, No. 315 - $1,135

·        Charlottesville, VA, No. 389 - $500

·        New Port Richey, FL, No. 2284 - $500

·        Richmond, VA, No. 45 - $500

·        South Broward, FL # 2830 - $500

·        Watchung Hills, NJ # 2252 - $500

Just imagine, if every lodge in the Order would do something like this, the Home would have no more financial concerns and could soon accomplish the much needed renovations of some of the buildings.  What might your lodge do?

Thank you all for your support!  (If we have missed anyone, let us know.)

This Saint Patrick's tree decorated a  hallway at the Home for part of the month of March.  Since then it has metamorphosed to an Easter tree and then a Spring tree.
