The following services are included in your monthly fee:
- All utilities except telephone and cable TV.
- One meal per day (your choice of breakfast, lunch, or dinner)
- Emergency call system 24-hour response
- Campus security
- Scheduled group transportation (occasional charge for special trips or admission
fees)
- Bus to local churches on Sunday and in-house religious services
- Use of all activity areas including library, exercise room, seven-hole executive
golf course, card and game room, private dining area, main lobby, resident gathering
areas, and more
- Maintenance of apartment exteriors and housecleaning of public areas
- Appliance maintenance
The following services are available on a fee-for-service basis:
- Housekeeping and laundry service
- Additional meals or guest meals
- Non-scheduled transportation
- Health care and physician services
Health Care:
- If you need temporary care (minor illness, recuperating from surgery or an accident),
the Home's nursing staff, aides, and orderlies will tend to your every need in the
Special Care unit.
- Once you are a permanent resident, after passing a three-month evaluation period,
you will be eligible for day-to-day assisted living in Special Care, should you need
help.
- Catered Care is also available. This is limited assistance given to a resident in
his/her own room or apartment. Basic Catered Care is $15.00 per day.
- You may see the physicians who visit the "Home" during their regular visits to the
Home. You will be responsible for any Medicare deductibles and any medicine and supplies
you receive.
- Numerous physicians and specialists are available in Bedford, Roanoke and Lynchburg.
- The charge for in-patient care in the Special Care unit is $70 per day, in addition
to your monthly fee.
- Bedford Memorial Hospital is near the Home for residents who need hospital care.
- Hospitals are also located in Roanoke and Lynchburg (25 miles away).
- The Home's Medical Records Department will help you with Medicare and other insurance
claims for outside medical treatment.
- The Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center is located 35 miles from Bedford.
