BILL McGUINNESS When you look up the word "Volunteer" in the dictionary, you immediately think of Bill McGuinness. Bill came to the Home October 25, 2004, and shortly afterwards kindly volunteered to give up his time to become the Elks Home driver. Not only does he transport residents to their appointments with doctors and hospitals in the Bedford area, but also to the surrounding areas of Roanoke and Lynchburg. His duties are not limited to just patient transportation, but he also runs errands to the local drug store for the medical staff and banking for the office. He has been known to make airport runs for residents and visitors whenever needed. Recently, we have had only one van to use for transporting residents; so Bill not only is driving, but volunteered the use of his own van. Bill has a way of making all newcomers feel at home in their new surroundings with his dry sense of humor and kind-hearted ways. This is another reason why he is such an asset to the Home. We are so fortunate to have someone as special as Bill being readily available when we need him. THANK YOU, BILL, FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR THE HOME, THE RESIDENTS, AND THE STAFF!
